HAWKESBURY City Football Club rebounded from its last round draw with the Western NSW Mariners to defeat Sydney University at the weekend in Football NSW’s NPL 3 competition.
Taking on the lowly Mariners in round 19, City could only manage a 2-2 draw at Bathurst, but round 20 saw a different story despite another, albeit shorter, road trip as City won 2-1.
Santiago Pallares and James Mawein both found the net again, after the pair each scored a goal last week.
Pallares has scored 19 goals during the season for Hawkesbury and is second in the NPL 3 for goals, behind Rydalmere Lions player Amaury Gauthier.
The win saw City leap into fourth place on the NPL 3 ladder, after slipping to sixth thanks to the draw with the Mariners.
With six rounds remaining in the competition, City is well placed for a finals run.
In round 21, Hawkesbury City will take on fifth-placed Gladesville-Ryde Magic at Bensons Lane at 5.30pm on Saturday.
