There have been 160 nominations for this weekend’s XXXX Gold Stand-Alone Saturday meeting, to be run on the same date, April 29, it was originally.
“The nominations are outstanding, with all the leading stables represented and also a number from interstate, adding additional quality to the meeting,” Rudolph said.
“It augurs well for another fantastic race day on Saturday and if we get over 100 acceptors, it will be the best meeting in terms of horse numbers, ever.”
The Hawkesbury entry list includes 68 for the club’s three Group 3 features – the $200,000 Livamol Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m), $200,000 Blacktown Workers Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) and $175,000 Godolphin Crown (1300m).
Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller, successful in last year’s Cup with Amovatio, will see Beyond Thankful, Marenostro and Vanbrugh for this year’s Hawkesbury Gold Cup.
John O’Shea saw Spectroscope, Duca Valentinois, Havana Cooler and Moher all be accepted for the race.
Hawkesbury trainer Jason Attard’s Kellyville Flyer will run while Reiby The Red is an emergency. Noel Mayfield-Smith’s Famous Seamus and Richard Freedman’s Auvray are two other local horses which will run.
Gosford trainer Fred Cowell finished second last year with Mighty Lucky, and hopes to go one better.
Randwick co-trainers Peter and Paul Snowden won last year’s Godolphin Crown with Nancy, and have entered a strong contingent with Artistry, Brigadoon Rise and Serene Majesty.
Gerald Ryan captured last year’s Guineas with Spill The Beans, and hopes Star Of Monsoon can clinch back-to-back victories in the feature event for three-year-olds.
Local Guineas entries include Flemington Spring Carnival winner Spright (Garry Frazer), another recent Randwick winner Generalissimo (Garry White) and Provincial Championships heat winner Shazee Lee (Scott Singleton).
“The Guineas is shaping up as one of the best races on the day,” said Rudolph.
“It draws from a number of different form lines and I expect it to be a wide open betting race.”
