Summer is a great time to spend outdoors with family and guests.
To get the most out of your outdoor space and enjoy summer, here are some simple and stylish tips on how to set up the ideal outdoor space:
FIRE UP THE BARBECUE
With warm weather, Aussies will be preparing to fire up the barbecue with their go-to pair of tongs and mouth-watering snags.
Bunnings outdoor buyer, Ben Shanley said when space is limited, free standing pizza ovens, two or three burner barbecues or portable barbecues, are compact alternatives that won’t see you compromise on quality or features.
“For those with a dedicated barbecue area, the stylish Matador 4 Burner BBQ is a focal point for any outdoor entertaining area and is fitted out for the ultimate barbecue experience, including the kitchen sink,” Mr Shanley said.
OUTDOOR CHILLING
The right outdoor furniture can transform an outdated or empty space. If you want to entertain, flexibility is key.
Ben advises to use portable and lightweight furniture such as polycarbonate chairs that can be moved easily to create more space if unexpected guests arrive.
“On the other hand, you can transform your outdoor space into a relaxing sanctuary with the addition of an egg chair, swing lounge or hammock,” he said.
COVER YOURSELF
One of Ben’s tips is to make your outdoor space more enjoyable, consider installing protective shades and screens.
“Outdoor blinds such as roller, retractable and roll-up blinds come in a range of styles to suit your existing look and can be custom made to suit the size and shape of your window.
“Bistro blinds are also a great option if you want to cover a larger area and can be installed to an existing pergola or gazebo to keep the weather and insects out,” Mr Shanley said.
Market umbrellas or cantilever umbrellas are portable options, allowing you to change its position.
MAKE LIGHT OF THE EVENING
Evenings are a great time for Alfresco style dining or watching the stars.
“If you’re wanting to freshen up your existing furniture install fairy lights, creating ambience for those warm summer nights,” the outdoor buyer said.
To feel safer in your outdoor evening space, line it with the right lighting. Add solar motion-activated security lighting to the front and back of the house. The motion sensor will turn the lights on and off automatically when motion is detected.
One example is the Duracell Silver LED Solar Motion Security Light, available at Bunnings. This device will help you to save energy and is DIY with no requirement for wiring.
