LOCAL students combined their efforts to showcase the talents of the Hawkesbury at the Combined Hawkesbury Schools Music Festival.
Twenty-three Hawkesbury primary schools and four high schools were involved in the event, which takes place every two years at the Windsor Function Centre.
Principal of Freemans Reach Public School, Cheryl Walker, said the students put a lot of effort into preparing for the concert, and it was a massive hit.
“Each of the primary schools combined to form a massed choir for each night, practicing and performing several songs to the delight of a nearly packed house of family and friends,” she told the Gazette.
The primary schools were accompanied in some songs by musical ensembles from Windsor and Richmond High Schools.
Other students were involved in a combined school concert band which performed the national anthem and two special pieces to showcase their skills.
Other students developed individual items as solos, duets and small groups covering a range of musical styles.
The finale each evening was a performance by one of the Hawkesbury’s regional music groups, a vocal ensemble and concert band.
“These were truly inspirational for our students and staff. All schools and teachers gave generously of their time and energy to ensure a successful series of concerts for all invited guests and the audience,” said Ms Walker.
