Hawkesbury Showground will soon become a field of screams as Fearaphobia takes up residence.
Feara-what? you say! Fearaphobia, a playground of connected horror houses designed to make you either tremble in fear or laugh yourself silly.
Either way, its creators promise an-hour-and-a-half of thrills.
The travelling carnival of sick delights will be based at the showground in Clarendon from October 21 to 31, and is set to be a popular slayground (sic) on Halloween night.
Fearaphobia is Australia’s first and only dedicated “scream park”.
Unlike other theme parks, it is built exclusively to guarantee its visitors a terror-based experience.
The creators have more than 30 years experience in the scare business and have worked hard at collecting the right attractions to leave you terrified.
There will be ghosts and ghouls to greet you as you move between the seven haunted attractions, and there will be other Halloween-inspired entertainment to get you in the spooky mood.
A standard scream pass will give visitors access to the park’s top five haunts: The Darkness; Haunted Hotel; Big Top Intensity; Escape of the Zombies; and Evil Scream 13.
An X-Scream Pass will get you access to a sixth realm … Monsters Mayhem.
And finally, a Limited Edition X-Scream Pass will get you the added displeasure of being Buried Alive.
For those still in the dark, here’s what to expect.
The Darkness sees guests plunged into just that … spooky old darkness. Moving forward may not be as easy as it seems.
In the Haunted Hotel you will confront a series of unpleasant inhabitants who are hellbent on making your stay a disturbing one.
Big Top Intensity sees a team of malevolent clowns waiting around every corner of the twisted maze.
In Escape of the Zombies you will be part of a medical team called to clear the facility that is infested with the undead.
As for Evil Scream 13 … think monstrous medieval monks and a labyrinth of macabre torture devices.
Now for the truly brave. Monsters Mayhem will see you confronted by snakes, zombies, ghosts and all manner of unmentionables, with the common goal of stripping away the last of your nerves.
Well, almost. Those surviving will be urged to take the challenge of live burial … if you manage to rise again, you will even be presented with a death certificate.
If this sort of thrill-night sounds like your idea of fun, best get cracking and book your date with terror as spaces are limited.
The experience is designed for those aged 15 and over.
