THE state government will establish a body to investigate tourism opportunities in the Hawkesbury.
The group will have people from Destinations NSW, Hawkesbury businesses and other locals, and will advise the government on places for tourism in the region.
The state government will cough up $3 million to fund the group, which was an election promise made by Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet.
Mr Perrottet said the group would find ways to attract visitors to the region.
“So far the Government’s efforts have already seen Hawkesbury feature on a number of occasions on Sydney Weekender, while also securing the upcoming World Polo Championships, and locking in another year for the True Grit event, which is great news for the businesses in the region,” Mr Perrottet said.
“Now it’s time to take things to the next level with a grassroots and community driven approach, to find even more opportunities to promote Hawkesbury.”
The group’s first meeting will be in November.
