NEWLY declared Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman has had to hit the ground running, with people already filtering through her electoral office, despite it having no computers and not officially open.
Ms Templeman was declared on July 27, the official moment she took over from previous member Lousie Markus.
Ms Templeman said she was anxious to justify the community’s decision to elect her.
“I feel enormously privileged to be given the opportunity to represent the people of Macquarie,” she said.
Ms Templeman has taken over Mrs Markus’ previous office at Windsor, and was given access after being declared.
“Moving into the office gives you a tangible sense of the responsibility [of being Member for Macquarie],” she said.
“We've already had people walking through the door and wanting to talk about things and I can see it is going to be busy and we're hoping to make it a very welcoming office.”
Ms Templeman said the fact she had been in opposition to Louise Markus for seven years gave her a good grasp of the issues important to the electorate.
“This is something I've worked for for such a long time, I feel very ready for the responsibility and to hopefully meet the expectations of being a good local member,” she said.
“It is good I have had such a long road to get here because it feels like I have already hit the ground running, because I have connections and know the issues throughout the Hawkesbury and the Blue Mountains.”
Ms Templeman said saving Thompson Square, working to deliver a third crossing of the Hawkesbury River and solving local traffic issues would be among the top of her agenda.
