OAKVILLE Raiders Baseball Club will host a try out day on Sunday, July, 24, to encourage new players to sign up for the club.
Committee member Fiona Walker said anyone who wanted to have a go was welcome to join the club between 10am and 2pm for a hit or sausage sizzle at Colbee Park, McGraths Hill.
“We try to have one day a year where we have a fun day like this,” she said.
“It is great especially for young kids who are new to the area. A lot of kids don't know baseball exists, I know I didn't when my kids started playing it.”
Walker said the club would provide all the gear necessary to join in on Sunday.
“We have the nets out and the bats and mitts so everyone can have a try,” she said.
“We provide most of the gear if people sign up to play.”
Walker said baseball was quite an easy sport to learn to play, particularly for children who started at the teeball level.
“They start with some of the basic rules and then grow, unlike other sports where the you learn all the rules at once,” she said.
“They just have to learn how to hit the ball and run when they play teeball.”
