GAZETTE photographer Geoff Jones is completing a long-term photo essay of Hawkesbury people. Calling it the 1 to 100 project, he is photographing someone of each age, from 1 year old to 100.
Still gathering the last pieces to the puzzle, he said what had struck him during the project was the extraordinary grace and beauty of the oldest people he’d photographed. He was in awe of the life experience held between these three ladies. “Nearly 300 years!” he said.
Agnes Harris at 104 was outside the parameters of his project, but he had to include her. He photographed her last July, and she reached 105 before passing away last October. Mary Juleff was 97 but looked much younger and WWII veteran Irene Chalmers was a serene 94.
Geoff’s project is due to be finished later this year.
