THE Windsor Wolves’ Ron Massey Cup side had an agonising two-point loss to the Asquith Magpies at the weekend, while the Sydney Shield team belted the Magpies 60-0.
Wolves coach Brent Kite said he was impressed with the attitude shown by the Wolves, although lamented they could not stay disciplined for the full 80 minutes.
“We played the best 20 minutes of the competition we have all year,” he said.
“We put 18 points on them in 15 minutes and then we dropped a bit in discipline and they turned around put 18 back on us.”
A see-sawing scoreline was eventually punctuated by a late try to Asquith after a chip over the top.
Kite said vice-captain and halfback Aaron Farkas was again impressive for the Wolves.
“He just keeps leading the way. He puts his body in front of the big blokes and with the ball he laid on a couple of tries,” he said.
The Wolves have a double header against St Mary’s on Saturday at Windsor.
