That unmistakable, thrilling roar will be heard in Richmond and surrounding areas next week when RAAF Base Williamtown Hornets come calling.

The nightflight operations are slated for between 7.30pm and 10pm on Monday and Tuesday, February 15-16, but the date and time could change if conditions aren’t favourable.
Up to four F/A-18 Hornets will pierce our skies as part of their Operational Conversion Course.
The jets will take off from Williamtown at approximately 7.30pm and conduct training flights to RAAF Base Richmond, which may continue until approximately 10pm.
The ability to land at alternate airfields is an essential part of pilot training on the Hornets. Richmond is a primary divert airfield for RAAF Base Williamtown.
This training will also include an Instrument landing system approach, which helps pilots land at night or in poor weather.
A spokesperson said the Air Force appreciates the ongoing support of the Hawkesbury community during these training activities.
