The Hawkesbury Hawks baseball team tumbled from first to third on the ladder after losing to St Mary Saints at the weekend.
There is fierce competition at the top of the Sydney Metro Baseball G3 west ladder and Hawkesbury was not up to the task on Saturday, January 30.
Hawks manager Marty Mockford said the team simply could not get anything going for itself at the weekend.
“I think we were hoping we could clinch a win against one of he top teams and to not win was a bit disappointing,” he said.
Mockford said nothing seemed to go the way of the Hawks, as the team went down 11-7.
However, with three games left in the season he said the loss had not dampened the morale of the players in the team.
“We've gone from first to third but we're still in there. The wet weather has changed a lot of it too, so plenty of teams have missed a lot of games and it has made things tight,” he said.
