RICHMOND residents may notice a few changes to the main street today until next Wednesday as construction crews prepare Windsor Street for the filming of Mel Gibson's latest movie, Hacksaw Ridge.
Crews will be making some adjustments to the streetscape and shop fronts over the weekend, ready for filming to start on Monday.
Road closures will also be in place in and around the main street from Monday until Wednesday.
On Monday, November 30, West Market Street will be closed between Windsor Street and March Street from 4am to 8pm. And on Tuesday, December 1, Windsor Street will be closed between East Market Street and Bosworth Street and West Market Street closed between Francis Street and March Street from 11am to 11pm.
Hacksaw ridge is a movie based on WWII American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, who served during the Battle of Okinawa, who refuses to kill people and becomes the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Also starring in the film are Aussies Sam Worthington, Rachel Griffiths and Hugo Weaving.
The movie is set to be released in 2016.
