The winner is … CYRUS!
The last few months have seen a teenager from Dapto rise from an unknown busker at McDonalds, to a national superstar with his debut single “Stone” made available straight after Tuesday nights grand final show (video below).
Cyrus Villanueva,19, was catapulted to front of stage after chasing his dreams and auditioning for the seventh series of The X Factor.
Week after week the former Kanahooka High School student left the judges - and fans - lost for words after adding his personal touch to songs we all knew and loved.
For his final performance on the show he sat down at the piano for a hauntingly brilliant rendition of “Wicked Game” originally by Chris Isaak.
All judges agreed it was awesome, James Blunt said he had the voice of an angel while Dannii Minogue said she knew he would go far.
Villanueva will now be thrown into a crazy media circuit to promote his victory on the reality TV show. He’s still contracted to them for three months, but will get to have some downtime before heading into the Sony Music Australia studios for recording.
Beyond that nobody knows how successful he’ll become, though mentor Chris Isaak has previously told the Illawarra Mercury he’s betting the teen will have a “good future” ahead. He also said he will always be there to help him in any way.
