NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is planning a hazard reduction burn in Castlereagh Nature Reserve, near Llandilo, tomorrow.
The services' director of Metro and Mountains, Tom Bagnat, said the area to be burnt is generally bounded by Llandilo Road to the east and the Cattle Fire Trail to the west.
“With assistance from the Rural Fire Service the burn will commence at approximately 9am with crews continuing into the evening, finishing up when required, weather permitting,” Mr Bagnat said.
“Castlereagh Nature Reserve, including all tracks and trails, will be closed to the public for the duration of the burn. Llandilo Road between Spence Street and Galvin Road will also be closed during parts of the burn.
“Motorists are reminded that smoke may affect roads and to drive to the conditions, adhere to local signage and follow any direction from fire crews.”
This burn is one of the many hazard reduction operations undertaken by the wildlife service across NSW every year, many with assistance from the RFS and Fire and Rescue NSW.
The burns are part of the NSW government’s $62.5 million package to boost bushfire preparedness and double hazard reduction in the state’s national parks, where conditions allow.
