THE big day for UWSH is at hand, as both first and second grade prepare to do battle in the NSW Suburban Rugby grand finals.
First grade will have to face Redfield Old Boys and second grade will play Waverley at Granville Rugby Park on Saturday, August 29.
UWSH coach Kristian Berghofer said the final training session on Thursday night had been great.
"We're all looking forward to it. I think it is great for the club to have two teams in the finals," he said.
"Even at training we had all the lower grade players there to run the water and help out with the training session."
Berghofer said there were a few nerves, but for the main part the general feeling within the club is that of excitement.
"We've got a good mix of youth and experience in both grades," he said.
"Any of the younger boys who look a bit nervous there are older boys to calm them down."
First grade co-coach Mick West said minimising errors was the best way to beat Redfield.
"I'm confident in the team's ability to get the job done," he said.
"I think our solid forward pack will do plenty of work up the middle and really test the Redfield defence."
Redfield is renowned for its adhoc style of play. The comment "I don't think they even know what they're doing" is bandied around when talking about them.
West said the forwards would need to control the ball if the club wanted to win the grand final.
"Tight five players James Warwick-Smith & Mick Cantrell will give plenty of go forward with their huge work ethic and experience," he said.
"Structure is important for us and the players all know their individual roles in that."
First grade kick-off is at 3pm.

Second grade coach Cameron Arthur said he was both nervous and excited about the grand final.
Arthur said he felt both UWSH and Waverley were evenly matched.
"I can't wait for the game to come to be honest," he said.
"Where it will be won is the same as the first semi-final. Whoever wins the forward battle will the game."
Arthur said Waverley's fly-half was a danger man to keep an eye on.
"I thought that their number 10 really controlled the game for them," he said.
"He kicked well and gave good ball to his outside backs. We need to watch him and put him off his game for sure."
