About 120 people turned out to the Australian Hotel and Brewery to contribute funds and have a laugh in aid of the new school.
With new grounds, the school needs certain equipment that will help their special needs students.

Principal Leonie Donaldson said they were raising about $60,000 for the shade and that the $2000 raised on Friday was a welcome boost.
"Every little bit helps us get closer towards that dream of having the whole playground covered in shade," Ms Donaldson said.
"Because no matter how much we try to ensure students wear their hats, some of them don't like them.
"We keep on trying to encourage them to wear them, as it's a lifelong skill we're trying to create, but it takes time."
The audience was entertained by comedians Mat Wakefield, Dave Williams, Joe Comino and Al De Bene.
Wakefield, the organiser, said the school was the ideal beneficiary for the organisation, which operates first and foremost with a "strong social conscience".
"It really is a very innovative business model in which everyone benefits: the cause, the comics, the community and the business," he said.
The school is planning more events including a Tupperware party on August 20 and 21 and a twilight market on November 21.
"It's not just shade cloths we need," Ms Donaldson said.
"We have state-of-the-art classrooms and facilities but we've got to look at ways to resource those areas."
On Friday one attendee donated a piano.
"They knew we didn't have one and of course I was thrilled to accept the donation," she said.
