The rise in popularity of shows such as MasterChef has helped home cooks expand their cooking habits and their choice of appliances.
‘‘All over the world we have seen an explosion of cooking shows, what has happened it has allowed consumers to align their skill set to be in line with the kitchen products on offer,’’ ASKO marketing director James Vogdanos says.
‘‘An example of this is steam cooking. Cooking shows are teaching every day home cooks that you can produce wonderful dishes if you have the correct equipment to do so.
‘‘So hence this in turn drives the demand for consumers to fit out their kitchens with the latest and greatest appliances.’’
Mr Vogdanos said commercial-type appliances were gaining in popularity.
‘‘Consumers want robust appliances that not only look good but perform.
‘‘Consumers in 2015 of course are not only looking for the very best looking appliances but are also looking for kitchen appliances that deliver optimum results.’’
When choosing the kitchen design to suit your home, the best place to start your research is online.
But you can’t go past a more tactile approach when it comes to choosing appliances.
Visit appliance showrooms, kitchen appliance retailers and home shows to test out your favourite ovens, stove tops, fridges and dishwashers to make sure you know exactly how to use them and get the most out of all the fancy functions.
