A ute with a loud exhaust put police on the path to seizing almost 30kg of cannabis at Hay on Saturday.
Police from Deniliquin Highway Patrol stopped the utility on the Sturt Highway about 11.30pm Saturday for a random breath test and due to concerns about the vehicle’s loud exhaust.
When police searched the vehicle they allegedly found 29.5kg of cannabis. The drugs have an estimated potential street value of $325,000.
The driver, a 51-year-old man from Athol Park in South Australia, was arrested.
He was taken to Hay Police Station where he was charged with supply a prohibited drug and possess a prohibited drug.
The man appeared in Deniliquin Local Court on Sunday and was bail refused to appear in Griffith Local Court on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.
