Uniting Care at Richmond supports carers and is asking carers of anyone to come and join its walking group.
By taking a much-needed break, carers return more productive and resilient in their caring duties.
Uniting Care Richmond manager Kersty Horton said that’s exactly what the group is for, to get carers to take a well-earned break.
‘‘We run the program with day trips as well so they can take a break from their duties,’’ she said.
‘‘It helps the caring to be more sustainable in the long term.’’
Uniting Care helps people with mental illness and their carers by means of more than 3000 volunteers across NSW and the ACT.
The Richmond group currently walks from 10.30am to 11.30am every third Tuesday of the month. Regulars to the group love the time outdoors but Ms Horton said more carers are encouraged to come along.
Whether you want to have a stroll or do some power walking, the group meets at Ham Common and follows the exercise route.
