Heats will be staged at the 2014 Orange Blossom Festival (September 13) and Hawkesbury Harvest Markets (October 11 and 25), with the final to be held at the Sydney Country Music Festival at Bella Vista Farm Park on Saturday, November 8.
Multi-award-winning country singer-songwriter Donna Boyd said she was absolutely thrilled to be working with the council on this project.
‘‘There are so many talented artists that are just looking for that opportunity to get their name out there and have their voices and their music heard,’’ Ms Boyd said.
The Hills mayor Michelle Byrne said: ‘‘Performing arts is something I’m really happy to support and the Silver Saddle competition is a great way of promoting undiscovered talent at one of our signature events.
‘‘I can’t wait to welcome thousands of residents and visitors to the Sydney Country Music Festival, for what will be a great day out for all.’’
