Drenching dains and strong winds buffeted the Hawkesbury, bringing down trees and causing road closures and leaking roofs.
The Hawkesbury received 42 millimetres of rain and the winds reached 37km/h over the past four days.
During the wettest period so far this year, Hawkesbury SES crews attended to four leaking roofs.
The Berkshire Park causeway was closed on Sunday afternoon and remained closed as the Gazette went to press yesterday.
On Monday morning Tennyson resident, Julie Burrow, discovered a 200-year-old tree had fallen in front of her home, crushing three gates and two fences.
Mrs Burrow told the Gazette she had reported the old tree’s lean to Hawkesbury Council two months ago but they had yet to inspect it.
‘‘No one ever came and checked up on the tree, now with the wind and wet weather it has fallen,’’ Mrs Burrow said.
Mrs Burrow said council staff had arrived yesterday morning but said the tree was ‘‘too large’’ to remove and that a contractor had to be hired.
A spokesperson from Hawkesbury SES said the region had been very been lucky that there were no serious accidents or damage due to the weather.
