Victoria Police's media unit provided a brief statement about the incident on Sunday morning.
"Police attempted to pull over a vehicle on McCormack's Road about 11pm," the statement said.
"The vehicle has continued driving and struck a tree on Hopkins Avenue a short time later.
"The driver, a 25-year-old Burnside man, was taken to Bendigo Health with a leg injury.
"The matter remains under investigation."
No other details about the incident have been released at this stage.
The incident comes after a motorcyclist collided with a car after a police pursuit on July 11.
The motorcyclist was attempting to evade police interception and rode up onto a footpath in Golden Square before crashing into a reversing car, which was carrying a woman and two children.
Police said the pursuit only lasted "a couple of seconds".
The Major Collision Investigation Unit travelled from Melbourne to Bendigo as part of the investigation into the short police pursuit and crash in Golden Square.
"It was in a very, very short space of time before the member determined it was too dangerous to continue the pursuit," Inspector Michael Talbot said.
"But unfortunately at that time, almost immediately afterwards, this collision has occurred."
