DON’T miss the official launch and announcement of winners of the prestigious Hawkesbury Art Prize this Friday night, November 17 at 6pm at Purple Noon Gallery at Freemans Reach.
The winner, who will score $10,000, will be announced by Macquarie MP Louise Markus, as well as the three highly commendeds who each win $1000.
This year the national competition attracted a massive 250 entries, which were whittled down to 50 finalists. The Prize asked the artists to embrace the notion of contemporary Australian identity.
The finalists and winner will be on exhibition at the gallery until the end of the year. Purple Noon Gallery is at 606 Terrace Road, Freemans Reach.
The aim of the Hawkesbury Art Prize is to promote art in the Hawkesbury region and increase awareness of art and cultural activity, to the mutual benefit of community. Contact the gallery on 4579 6579.
