Teen threatened as masked men ransack Sydney home

A teenager has been threatened and her home ransacked after up to seven masked men, two of them armed with guns, broke into her property in western Sydney, police say.

The men, who were armed with handguns and wearing ski masks, broke into the house on Dorset Close in Wakeley about 9.40pm on Monday, police said.

They threatened the 18-year-old, who was alone in the house, but she was not hurt, police said.

The house was searched by the attackers but it was not yet known what was taken.

Inspector Peter Neville of Fairfield Local Area Command said while it was too early to say if the home invasion was a targeted or random attack, investigators were more inclined to think the young woman was targeted.

It was also too early to say if the attackers, who were in the house for 15 minutes before leaving, were known to police, he added.

Anyone with information was urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
