THE Hawkesbury’s Naomi Stalenberg and the Sydney Thunder women were defeated by the Perth Scorchers on the weekend in the Women’s Big Bash League finals, losing by 27 runs.
The Scorchers set a total of 148 for the Thunder to chase, and they played out their overs scoring 8-121, falling short of the required runs.
Naomi Stalenberg’s skilful fielding helped her team end player of the match Perth Scorchers Nicole Bolton’s innings, however, she was not as fortunate when it came to batting herself being knocked out for stumps with just one run from six balls, an uncommon score for a batswoman who has had a fantastic season so far.
While the loss is disappointing for the Sydney Thunder, they have had a very successful league, coming in second on the standings with just a 0.206 Net Run Rate separating them from the Sydney Sixer’s who topped the table and took out the Women’s Big Bash League title.
