If you’re anything like me, going back to work after time off is quite the adjustment.
Getting back on track with early morning routines and the daily commute can be difficult – especially when the weather is still gorgeous outside.
And while there’s nothing more than any of us would like to do but be on holidays 24/7, those responsibilities won’t disappear, and those bills won’t pay themselves.
This is when finding that work/life balance becomes especially important.
One goal that I’ve set for myself this year is to really get out there and make the most of my days.
It can be so easy to just get home from work, plop down on the couch and watch back-to-back episodes of House Hunters, but while the days are still long, it’s the perfect time to get outside in the evenings.
If you’re lucky enough to live near the coast, hit the beach for a dip, take a walk along the sand and explore the rocks. If the beach is out of reach, what about a trip to your local pool? Maybe get some exercise and swim a few laps.
If you’re keen to make some new friends and keep fit, create a walking group on Nabo.com.au with your neighbours and walk around your neighbourhood.
I’ve been looking to unleash my inner artist for some time, and while I’m definitely not going to be commissioned to touch up the ceilings of the Sistine Chapel any time soon, my weekly art classes at the local studio are helping to break up what can sometimes be a rather monotonous week.
It makes a world of difference to do something just for you during the week.
We can get too caught up in our work and keeping other people’s lives running smoothly.
We need to give ourselves some attention.
So go on - give it a try and keep a part of your holiday self alive all year around.
