One of Lisa Wilkinson's new co-hosts has made the admission that he is fearful about her debut on Channel Ten's The Project.
"She is far warmer and far funnier than me - I fear she might show me up for the idiot that I am," Tommy Little joked to Fairfax Media at the recent Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo on the Mornington Peninsula.
Wilkinson will be a Sunday night regular on the news and current affairs show, starting her presenting duties on Sunday, January 28.
She will work mid-week too alongside Waleed Aly, Peter Helliar and Carrie Bickmore, but Ten have yet to specify on which days.
Despite his concerns, Little, 32, a comedian who is a The Sunday Project regular as well as a fill-in during the week when the main presenters are unavailable, said Wilkinson could be in his line of fire.
"I might [give her some slagging], which will go one of two ways. It will go great and she'll find it funny or she'll hate me and I won't exist in showbiz anymore," he laughed.
There has been some rumours that the hosts have been jealous of Wilkinson's new role, particularly her substantial pay packet, but Little said that could not be further from the truth.
"It is such a friendly team on The Project that we are looking forward to such a great addition. It's like when a team you love gets a really great player - everyone is just excited," he said.
"She's one of the biggest stars in Australia and now she is ours and that's great."
Wilkinson quit Channel 9's Today in October after they refused to pay her the same as her male co-host, Karl Stefanovic.
Little will tour the country with his new stand-up show, The Last King of Stupid, from mid-February.
