KURRAJONG-Bilpin Little Athletics Club members Caitlyn Ferrier and Tully Murphy did themselves proud at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships earlier this month.
Ferrier won a very close 400-metre race in the under-16 girls.
Ferrier just edged out a rival to win the event with a personal best time of 54.31 seconds, which is a qualifying time for the Youth Olympics.
“I was so determined to win, and that’s probably the one thing that got me there in the end,” said Ferrier, who trailed early.
She also competed in the 200-metre race, although drew lane nine, and was fifth with a time of 24.78 seconds, another personal best.
Tully finished fourth in the under-18s triple jump event. He was a meagre three-centimetres behind third place, after his final jump saw him leap from well behind the line.
Ferrier also competed in the 400-metre Swedish medley relay race, although a baton handling mishap saw the girls finish in sixth.
