Unprecedented demand for apartments has seen leading Canberra-based integrated property developer Geocon appoint an in-house sales team to provide a one-stop shop for property buying in the Australian capital.
Geocon has expressed its confidence in the local economy with the recent acquisition of prestigious development sites in the city centre and Woden, and has its sights set on further opportunities to build its signature precinct-style developments and hotels across the territory.
The new in-house sales team, team, led by international off-the-plan guru Sam Kandil, is a first for a Canberra development company and will offer a personalised experience throughout the purchase process.
"We want to help guide people through buying their first home," says Geocon managing director Nick Georgalis. "Because we are an integrated business, with in-house development, construction, marketing and now, sales, our customers will be in direct contact with us all the way through the buying experience.
"They will be able to deal with the same person from the time they become interested in buying an apartment, right through purchase, to settlement and beyond," says Georgalis.
An international search for the right person to lead the new approach resulted in Egyptian-born Kandil being appointed as Geocon's National Director and Head of Sales Australia & Asia Pacific.
Kandil has built a career managing sales for property developers selling apartments in Australia, Asia Pacific, India, the Middle East and Europe. In Canberra, he has put in place a team of 10 "highly qualified and motivated people with a great track record of customer service and sales" to deliver the new customer offer.
Geocon has 2500 units in the pipeline following its purchase of the City 7 site in Civic last month. The 230 apartments in its Midnight project, in the prime entertainment hub of Braddon, have nearly sold out since their February launch.
The group is also set to inject new life into Woden through a signature development on the site bounded by Launceston Street, Melrose Drive and Furzer Street.
"With our population growing rapidly, we have to up the ante to deliver an exceptional experience to our buyers, so we needed an internal team specialised in selling off-the-plan," says Geocon general manager of development Peter Micalos.
In a further bid to make it simpler for people to get into the property market - particularly first-home buyers - Geocon is offering a range of incentive packages tailored to individual needs.
The company's GeoPay initiative, available at Geocon's Infinity development in Gungahlin Town Centre among other properties, allows buyers to secure an apartment with just $1000, then gives them six months to save the remaining five per cent deposit.
Its GeoFirst package, available at Southport in Tuggeranong, offers buyers the ability to live in a highly sought-after location without compromising on quality by topping up the government's First Home Owner Grant to the tune of $14,000. It also provides Matt Blatt furniture valued at $5000 and off-the-plan purchasing support.
