How about this spring, Sydney? If you love hot weather the good news is it’s just officially getting started.
Sydneysiders from the Shire to the Mountains have come out in force to enjoy the early summery weather, and nature has come to the party as well.
Check out these photos from the start of spring as we mark the Spring Equinox – the moment when the centre of the Earth’s plane passes in line with the centre of the sun.
This occurred at precisely 6.02am on Saturday, September 23 and marks the astrological change of seasons from winter to spring, at least in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere.
The sun will shine directly on the equator on September 23, before the earth orients itself so the Southern Hemisphere will face it and warm up as summer approaches.
The sun will start to rise earlier now, and set later, while in the Northern Hemisphere the days will be shorter and the weather colder.
