HAWKESBURY Council deferred its decision on a childcare centre at Oakville in the hope of finding a middle ground between applicants and neighbours who object to it.
At the August 29 meeting, councillors voted to defer the application for a 101-child centre at 7 Smith Road, Oakville.
Council will ask the applicants to move the centre further away from a neighbour’s fence line and increase on-site parking.
Council heard concerns, particularly about parents parking on Smith Road to drop their children off when the on-site parking was full.
One neighbour who spoke at the meeting, objected to how close the site was to her fence line. She said the block in question was quite large and suggested it could be moved further away from her fence line.
The matter will come back before Council in the future.
