A DOZEN fit young RAAF men and women arrived with a truck and grins on their faces to shift Richmond Legacy into its new abode on Monday, July 31.
It really was many hands making light work, but one piece of chipboard furniture had to be sawn in half to get it in. Enter Brett Hall of Asset Shopfitting who has offered to edge it again for free.
As previously reported, Commanding Officer of 22 (City of Sydney) Squadron Paul Reddacliff had learnt that Richmond Legacy’s premises on East Market Street were being sold when he went in there to get a fancy dress outfit.
He said when he heard they needed help moving, it was a no-brainer. “Legacy helps our defence force all the time, so we wanted to help them out,” he said
Richmond Men’s Shed members also took part – Terry Conoulty, Peter Hamilton and Nick Banos.
Shaun Miller of Miller Property Developments had offered the new premises under No Limits Gym for low rent after seeing the Gazette story on Legacy’s search for a new home.
The electrical wiring and some repainting still had to be done, but Legacy’s Rene Brooks was hopeful they could open on Monday, August 7.
Contact Ms Brooks on 4571 1978 or 0408 545 197 about volunteering or to organise a pick-up of donations if needed.
