RICHMOND Ex-Servicemens Soccer Club estimated the club raised about $1000 for charity at the weekend, as Richmond’s Icely Park was turned pink.
Every team in the club purchased special pink socks, with the players donning them at the weekend. Some opposition teams also got in on the spirit of things and wore their own pink socks.
The club was raising money for the McGrath Foundation and also the Cancer Council.
Club administrator Tracey Boyd said the club was still counting the money raised, but estimated it would be around $1000.
“It was lovely a day. Plenty of people stuck around to enjoy the day. We had pink everywhere. Pink hair and socks, people dressed in it,” she said.
"Lots of families had a picnic or had their kids on the jumping castle or getting their face painted. There were plenty of happy children running around high on sugar from the lolly stall we had.”
Colo Soccer Football Club also hosted a red nose day event at the weekend.
