NSW Transport hasn’t ruled out major changes to the Richmond train timetable, including the cancellation of the direct Richmond to City services.
A source contacted the Hawkesbury Gazette with concerns that the State Government had plans to abolish the direct Richmond to City service, and replace it with a direct Richmond to Leppington service from October this year.
If true it would mean commuters would need to change trains in Blacktown to continue through to the city, and the same home.
The Gazette contacted Transport NSW in relation to the above information and a response from a spokesperson failed to rule out any changes to the existing timetable.
“This year’s timetable is still being finalised and as such, options for all lines remain unconfirmed, unless already announced by the NSW Government,” the spokesperson said.
“The NSW Government is delivering a record $1.5 billion on the More Trains More Services Program, which will boost capacity through hundreds of extra services, better infrastructure and new trains for Sydney.
“We’ll continue to engage customers about more parts of the 2017 train timetable that we’ve locked in. Customers will hear about all changes long in advance of implementation.”
The source who approached the Gazette, who is also a regular commuter on the Richmond line, said her major concern was how an already packed peak hour train full people were going to fit on an already crowed Penrith line service.
“Not since I was a child have we had to change trains at Blacktown to continue through to the city.
“With all the development occurring out here in the Hawkesbury and all the people moving out here, we need to retain the Richmond to City service.”
