THE World Polo Championship trophy arrived in Sydney on Friday and was given a tour of Parliament House.
Eight teams, including Australia and the recently qualified Spain and England, will play for the right to hoist the trophy in the Richmond Lowlands at Sydney Polo Club in October this year.
Sydney Polo Club’s Peter Higgins and Federation of International Polo chief executive Alejandro Taylor met with Premier Gladys Berejiklian to show her the trophy on Friday.
Mr Higgins said he was excited about the upcoming championship.
“This is a major accomplishment for polo in Australia, which will have spin-off benefits for the Hawkesbury region and state of New South Wales,” he said.
Mr Taylor congratulated Mr Higgins on successfully winning the right to host the championship and said he had great expectations about the event.
Tickets to the event can be purchased from the Sydney Polo Club website.
The World Polo Championship will run from October 21-29, at the Sydney polo Club.
