I think Friday’s win against Melbourne City was one of our club’s better performances of the season.
Even though we went down to an unlucky goal early on, we continued to play our game and controlled the match from there on out.
Obviously, plenty of credit goes to Brendon Santalab. He was unbelievable on the night and it was great to see him bag his first hat-trick for the Club.
I was also pretty happy about giving him the assist for the second goal. It’s always pleasing for a fullback to make a difference going forward. All in all, it was a dominant display against a dangerous Melbourne City side and it shows that we’re coming into some strong form at the right time of the season.
Although we haven’t cemented finals football as yet, we’ve put ourselves in a great position with just three games left in the regular season.
We know that we’re a good side and we’ve shown that we can beat anyone in the competition. So taking all that into consideration we’re confident that we can give the competition a real shake-up in the coming weeks.
On Saturday, we travel to Newcastle to take on the Jets where we’ll be aiming for our third consecutive win in the league. We’ve got a pretty good record against them in recent seasons but now is not the time to be complacent and we won’t be taking our foot off the pedal like we did against them in our first meeting this season.
Three points there will keep the momentum going ahead of what will be a massive clash against Melbourne Victory at ANZ Stadium the week after.
