HAWKESBURY Council is calling on residents to nominate people for its sports person of the year awards.
Council will hand out awards in nine different categories to sports officials, coaches and athletes they believe are worthy of the awards said Mayor Mary Lyons-Buckett.
“Council has recognised hundreds of members of our sporting community for over ten years, first in the form of the Hawkesbury District Sports Medal, and then when the program evolved into the Sports Awards Program that it is today,” she said.
“Coaches, volunteers, team players and individual competitors of all ability levels should apply. No sporting accomplishment is too big or too small for these awards.”
Last year, Council handed out its first round of awards.
Nomination forms and more information is available on Hawkesbury Council’s website.
Nominees must live in the Hawkesbury, or have played with a Hawkesbury sports team for more than a year.
Nominations for the awards close on April 7.
