A C-27J Spartan and C-130J Hercules will fly over Windsors St Matthew's Anglican Church tomorrow in memory of Air Commodore Geoff Lumsden who sadly passed away on February 8.
Air Commodore Lumsden, who served on several postings to RAAF Base Richmond throughout his Air Force career, passed away at the age of 73.
Joining Air Force in January 1962, Air Commodore Lumsden spent much of his career as a pilot, which included deploying during the Vietnam War to fly the DHC-4 Caribou transport aircraft.
He went on to become a Qualified Flying Instructor, and flew the C-130A and C-130E variants of the Hercules transport from RAAF Base Richmond, along with the Boeing 707 jet transport.
Air Commodore Lumsden rose through the ranks to become Commander Air Lift Group at RAAF Base Richmond from 4 May 1993 until 28 November 1996, before he retired from the Air Force in April 1997.
Both aircraft will approach the Church from the East, flying at an altitude of 75 metres. The aircraft will fly over Windsor individually, a minute apart at around 12.10pm.
This flypast is subject to variables including weather and operational availability, and may be subject to cancellation with no notice.
