LAST Friday’s scorcher hitting 44.3 degrees in Richmond was the hottest day in a bit over two years, but didn’t break any records.
Weatherzone’s Brett Dutschke said the record was on January 18, 2013 when the Richmond temperature got to 46.4, which prevailed over most of Sydney.
More recently, Friday’s temperature was beaten by the 45.3 degree effort on November 23, 2014. However records for temperature only go back to 1939. (Rainfall records began much earlier.)
Wednesday is expected to reach a top of 42, after a Tuesday of the same, but Thursday will be much cooler with a top of 27 and the possibility of a shower or two.
Mr Dutschke said on Monday that Wednesday was expected to be the last day of the heatwave, with a few days around the 30 degree mark.
This Friday should be a humid one, expected to reach a top of 33 with showers, and the weekend days will get to 30 and 31 degrees respectively, with the possibility of showers.
