ST ALBANS and MacDonald Valley residents will receive a mobile phone tower to improve black spot coverage, though Grose Vale will not.
The state and federal governments announced over the next four years, 174 towers will be built across New South Wales, as part of the Federal Mobile Blackspot Funding Program. A tower at St Albans will be one of those, although a time frame for its completion was not given.
The tower has been hailed by Dominic Perrottet, however, Susan Templeman has begged when Grose Vale will receive its promised tower.
A tower at St Albans, as well as Grose Vale, was an election promise of previous federal Member for Macquarie Lousie Markus, should the Turnbull government be re-elected.
Labor’s Templeman, who unseated Mrs Markus, was quick to point out Grose Vale’s tower was missing from the state government’s announcement.
“The promises for mobile black spot funding for Grose Vale...have not been honoured by the Turnbull Government, even though they were re-elected,” she said.
“With the bushfire season upon us, it beggars belief that all these areas are being short changed yet again by the Turnbull Government.”
Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet said the St Albans mobile phone tower would greatly improve the safety of residents in the St Albans and MacDonald Valley regions.
“Before the 2015 election I had the pleasure of attending a community forum in St Albans hosted by the Macdonald Valley Progress Association where I heard their concerns first hand,” he said.
"Good mobile coverage is vital for safety, and since meeting with the Association I have been advocating for the community with the Minister.
"[This] announcement is a great outcome, this is another step in our commitment to connect, protect and better promote the Hawkesbury.”
