She is a Hawkesbury girl through and through, now Lauren Smith from North Richmond is vying for the title of 2017 Hawkesbury Showgirl.
Miss Smith, 22, has grown up in the Hawkesbury her whole life, completing her schooling at Bede Polding before studying agriculture and horse breeding at TAFE in Richmond.
She is currently working full time at Godolphin horse stud in Agnes banks, and has worked there for the past three years.
Miss Smith said she entered Hawkesbury Showgirl competition because she has always been interested in representing the Hawkesbury through something she loves and has a passion for and that’s agriculture.
She said she also entered to enjoy the experience alongside one of her closest friends, and to also make news friends in the process.
“I also entered alongside my best friend Georgia Leva to gain the confidence and experiences the competition gives.”
“I believe that I bring a passionate and motivated person to the competition that can be a worthy role model for the younger generation of agricultural enthusiasts.”
If she was to win the Hawkesbury Showgirl competition, Miss Smith said she would use the experience and knowledge to help others gain confidence.
She said she hopes to make new connections and share ideas that could help inspire others.
“I would encourage people to get involved with the Hawkesbury community and pursue a passion worth recognising.
“The showgirl competition is a big confidence booster for me already, and I hope to be able to connect and share ideas and thoughts with many other passionate people out there in the community and to gain life long friendships with the other competitions.”
