She was named the inaugural Miss Hawkesbury Junior Showgirl in 2014, now Matilda Harry is vying for the title of Hawkesbury Showgirl 2017.
Miss Harry, 18, is currently the school captain at Colo High School, completing her HSC year.
She has already received an early offer Academy Access Scholarship to study at Western Sydney University for the next five years.
Next year she will begin her venture of a double degree in the Deans Scholar Masters of Primary Education, as well as a Bachelor of Applied Leadership and Critical Thinking.
Miss Harry said she entered Hawkesbury Showgirl as she was passionate about the Hawkesbury.
“At every opportunity I love to promote our beautiful piece of the world and the Hawkesbury Showgirl Competition 2017 will give me a platform to showcase the excellence and diversity of our district, whilst gaining experience for myself,” Miss Harry said.
“As a passionate young Hawkesbury resident who has showed cattle, chooks, dogs, produce and horses within the Hawkesbury Show pavilions and arenas since I could walk, I have gained a true passion and respect for the Hawkesbury and its community within.
“I aim to utilise my knowledge, leadership and passion to actively promote and advocate the Hawkesbury Show, its community spirit and all in which it has to offer.
“The championing of the Hawkesbury Showgirl Competition 2017 would allow me to advocate and promote our thriving agricultural district’s culture, history and bright future.”
