DO YOU have an ancestor who was born or died at North Richmond, Kurrajong or Upper Colo? If so you may want to get hold of ‘St Stephen’s Church, Kurrajong Parish Registers Volume 2’ which is now ready for pre-launch sale.
It’s not just life events that occurred at St Stephen’s Church; it includes all the other churches in that parish, transcriptions of baptisms, marriages and burials from 1903 to 1936 at St Stephen’s, St Philip’s Chapel of Ease at North Richmond (formerly called Enfield), St James Church of England at Kurrajong Heights and Salis Flats Mission Church which was later called St John the Evangelist, as well as records from Upper Colo.
Transcribing the thousands of records from parish register was a massive job undertaken by a band of dedicated history lovers from the church, community and residents.
Countless hours of volunteer work by Val Birch, Carolynne Cooper, Wanda Deacon, Kath McMahon, Joy Shepherd and Carol Roberts has produced a lasting record of early settlers in Kurrajong’s past and its place in the history of the Hawkesbury.
The late Alex Nolf set up a computer program to aid the process and local historian Chris Upton also spent many hours helping with compilation and layout.
