The Windsor Highway Patrol will be running their very popular Young Driver Awareness Program on Friday, September 9.
Between January 2009 and May 2016, young adults aged 17 to 25 years accounted for 41 per cent of all fatalities and 32 per cent of all drivers and riders involved in fatal crashes within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area.
The free driver program is organised and run by experienced members of the Hawkesbury Highway Patrol and involves a presentation of videos and guest speakers.
Video’s created by the Victorian Transport Accident Commission are used throughout the presentation. They are created using actors and special effects but are far and away the most realistic re-creations of crashes that can be seen.
The program has been running for three years with over 800 Hawkesbury young drivers and their parents having participated.
Positions on the program are limited. For further information and an application form please email hawkdriver@police.nsw.gov. au
