THE students at Grose View Public School wore their pyjamas to school for a day in the name of community fundraising.
Students were allowed to wear their jim-jams in exchange for bringing in a non-perishable item, all of which were donated to Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands - a Windsor-based organisation that helps feed, clothe and support the homeless and disadvantaged community members of the Hawkesbury and surrounds.
The school’s assistant principal, Tamara Hopkins, said the entire school got involved, as well as the teachers, with principal Damien Feneley wearing Superman pyjamas.
“[The students] loved it especially on such a chilly morning, they showed a lot of satisfaction in showing off their onesies!” she said.
The fundraising day was organised by teachers Mrs Harrington and Miss Chenery, along with the Student Representative Council students.
“[They] decided that after holding a successful school disco earlier this term to raise money to purchase playground equipment, it would be a great idea to give back to the community,” said Ms Hopkins.
“They decided that donating non-perishable items for the local community would be a great way to give back.”
The school will be purchasing hand balls as well as a basketball hoop, with funds raised during the school disco.
