KACHAN School of Tumbling had its biggest contingent of students ever at the State Levels Championships across the weekend of August 29 and 30.
The school sent 67 athletes of varying skills and ages to the event at the Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatics Centre in Rooty Hill.
The school came away with ‘‘loads’’ of state champion medals after the weekend.
School manager Bec Kachan said she was proud of the students.
‘‘We’ve got loads of state champions and walked away as over all club champions,’’ she said.
‘‘The last time we were club champions was in 2011.
‘‘We’ve been top three every year since, which is what we aim for, and to take it out this year was very nice.’’
Rylee McKeon and Damon Louwen were state champs in level one and five trampolining respectively.
Joshua Blench, Breanah Cauchi, Justin Fokes, Alexa Collins and Shannon Usher were tumbling champs in levels three, four, five, seven and eight respectively.
Later this month, tumblers from the school will have bigger fish to fry when they compete in Bendigo.
Seven tumblers from the school are in contention to represent Australia.
The National Club Carnival in Bendigo is the last chance they will have to impress selectors before the Australian team is announced.
Mrs Kachan said some students had already posted scores good enough to meet the requirements for the Australian team, while others would have an opportunity to post a qualifying score.
‘‘The team will be announced after the qualifier,’’ she said.
‘‘We have five who received scores they need in order to be selected on the national team and two others will be competing to try to post a score.
