A BIDWILL man will appear in court next month charged with introducing contraband into a correctional facility at Berkshire Park.
Police from Hawkesbury Local Area Command were patrolling Richmond Road, which borders the facility at about 11.10am on Monday, 27 July.
It will be alleged the officers observed a man with a black bag crawl under the perimeter fence of the facility.
Officers called out to the man, at which time he ran into bushland.
Police initiated a search for the man; this involved police from Hawkesbury and Parramatta Local Area Commands, as well as a Police Dog, PolAir and the Public Order and Riot Squad.
The man was located and arrested a short time later on nearby Llandilo Road. He was taken to Windsor Police Station.
Police found the bag in bushland. Inside were a number of items wrapped in duct tape and electrical tape.
These are yet to be forensically examined; however, police believe they contain drugs and other contraband.
Police have charged the 27-year-old man with deliver/attempt to deliver thing to an inmate without authority.
The Bidwill man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Windsor Local Court on 20 August 2015.
