Hawkesbury SES volunteers came third in the state after competing in the state rescue challenge late last month.
The bi-annual challenge saw six volunteers represent the Hawkesbury against other SES teams across the state.
Held at Jamberoo Action Park, the competition aimed to challenge teams in a variety of scenarios, including road crash rescue operations and more dramatic rescues using hydraulic cutting equipment.
The teams had to draw upon years of training and experience and tackle each scenario with precision and care. Elizabeth Thornton from the Hawkesbury SES was declared the ‘Best Medic’.
