Attention comic book nerds and cosplay practitioners, your annual gathering, Supanova, is fast approaching.
The annual Supanova Pop Culture Expo will return to Sydney Showground at Olympic Park on June 19 to 21, and as always, promises to be bigger and better than previous years.
The expo started out in 2002 as a small one-off convention in Sydney showcasing sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, amine, manga, games and cosplay.
The brainchild of founder and event director, Daniel Zachariou, the event now takes place in six cities and has become Australia’s answer to famed American annual expo, Comic-Con.
Last year, more than 190,000 visitors attended Supanova expos around Australia.
One of the highlights of the events are the international guests in attendance.
This year’s list of celebrities is guaranteed to impress.
Camren Bicondova, who plays a young catwoman in Gotham will no doubt be a favourite, as will English actress Elizabeth Henstridge, who stars as agent Jenna Simmons in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Arrow star Willa Holland will also be there as will Bonnie Wright, who sent hearts aflutter as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter series of films.
Definitely a smash with the pop culture enthusiasts, will be Susan Olsen, Christopher Knight and Mike Lookinland, aka Cindy, Peter and Bobby Brady from the everlasting The Brady Bunch.
And while many may not know his face, most will have heard the voice of John DiMaggio. The American actor lends his pipes to an array of animated characters, most notably Bender from Futurama and Jake the Dog from Adventure Time. The abovementioned celebrities are just a handful of those who will be at the Showground this year and as always, fans will have their chance to chat with them as well as grab autographs and photographs.
While the celebrities are a great drawcard, Supanova is also packed with commercial stalls offering everything from limited edition art prints through to the latest in steam punk accessories.
